Condition
Brain fog
Specialist care for brain fog, poor concentration and reduced mental clarity
What you should know about brain fog
Brain fog is not a diagnosis on its own, but a term used to describe problems with mental clarity, focus and information processing. It may occur after concussion, post-concussion syndrome, whiplash, illness, prolonged stress, fatigue, hormonal changes or other neurological events.
At Amsterdam Brain Center, we look at how your nervous system is functioning and which factors may be contributing to these cognitive symptoms.
How we approach brain fog
Brain fog is a neurological processing issue. The information reaching the brain may be incomplete, poorly filtered, or not efficiently processed. This can lead to mental sluggishness, difficulty concentrating, and a sensation of “fog” in the head.
The solution lies in optimising information processing and improving the cooperation between different areas of the brain. During our intensive treatment week, we focus on recalibrating the brain structures involved.
Through targeted stimulation, exercises, and cognitive activation, we enhance communication within the brain, allowing information to be processed more clearly and efficiently.
Your road to recovery
One week of intensive treatment
Step 1
The Functional Neurological Examination (FNE).
You tell us about your complaints. We will ask you the necessary questions about this and do a complete Neurological Examination. We determine if you are a suitable candidate for our treatment.
Step 2
Advanced Machine Testing (quantification)
Based on Step 1, we determine what tests are necessary to quantify the underlying cause of the symptoms. To do this, we use a range of computer-controlled equipment.
Step 3
Rehabilitation week (in 5 days)
We address the problems. Through an individual program specifically tailored to your problems, we bring back function during an intensive week of treatment.
Step 4
Aftercare
After the 5-day intensive treatment week, we will give you homework assignments. These are exercises that further promote your recovery. We are happy to keep an eye on these developments with you.
What do we expect from you?
Within this intensive programme, we use assessments, training and targeted therapies to support the functions involved in your symptoms and help improve the way your nervous system processes information.
Because the structure and intensity of the programme are important parts of our approach, we do not offer this treatment in separate phases. If you want to work seriously and sustainably on your recovery, we ask you to reserve a full week for treatment.
